Nose Reshaping (Rhinoplasty)

Rhinoplasty Overview

Rhinoplasty is the medical name for nose reshaping surgery or a “nose job” and it is designed to improve the size, proportion and overall appearance of the nose. The majority of the time, nose reshaping is performed to make the nose smaller or remove various defects, but it is also used to make it larger in some cases.

During rhinoplasty surgery, incisions are made to access the bones and cartilage supporting the nose, and then bone and cartilage are removed or tissue is added, depending on the desired result. Splints are often used to help support the shape of your new nose while it heals.

Rhinoplasty is a cosmetic surgery conducted to reshape the nose in one way or another. Whether you want to make your nose larger or smaller, change the angle, or correct bumps, rhinoplasty could be the solution. Perhaps you’ve felt insecure for years about your nose, fantasizing about what you’d look like with a different one. Why not take the big leap forward? It’s amazing how much better you’ll feel. There are countless surgeons performing rhinoplasty, but it’s best to choose the best from the start in order to assure that every step of the procedure is first-class.

Why do I need Rhinoplasty?

  • Reconstructive purposes: If the nose is damaged due to trauma, blunt force, congenital defects, cancer, drug-abuse, autoimmune disorder, displaced bone or cartilage.
    • Injury to the nose, for whatever reason, can impair your ability to breathe. Rhinoplasty can help return function to the nose and nasal passages.
  • Aesthetic Purposes: Many people feel insecure about their nose. Because it is such a central part of your face, it has a huge influence over your appearance, and altering it can make a world of a difference. Perhaps you feel your nose is too large or assymetrical. Rhinoplasty can work wonders to correct this, and give you the confidence you deserve.

Plastic surgeons don’t just focus on the nose itself, but on balancing all of your features together. Whether you’ve got an unsightly bump on your nose, or you feel your nose is too long, too wide, too droopy, or too crooked, Dr. Sammy Sliwin can correct it.

What can the surgeon do?

  • There are many different methods for rhinoplasty, depending on the client’s needs.
  • A nose that is too big can have cartilage removed and reshaped.
  • Nasal implants can enhance a nose that lies too close to the face.
  • A bumpy or uneven nose can be reshaped and made straight.

Rhinoplasty is a common and low-risk procedure with amazing benefits, heightened self-confidence being the most important one. It’s incredible how changing your nose can change your entire face, as well as your entire outlook.

Rhinoplasty is also not hard on your body. There is no need to stay overnight at a hospital, although Dr. Sliwin will see you for as many follow-up appointments as necessary. Facial scarring is minimal; it occurs inside the nose rather than outside.

For whatever reason you are coming to Dr. Sliwin, be assured that every one of your needs will be taken into account.
