Scarborough / Toronto Dermabrasion and Chemical Peels Specialist - Dr. Sammy Sliwin

Dr. Sliwin offers a variety of surgical and non-surgical facial beautification procedures for patients from throughout the greater Toronto area, including Scarborough. At his elegantly appointed plastic surgery Toronto / Scarborough offices, patients can undergo treatments ranging from face lift surgery to dermabrasion and deep chemical peels. The latter two procedures are wonderful non-surgical options for patients who desire to rejuvenate their facial appearance but do not want to undergo surgery. In the following paragraphs, Dr. Sliwin explains the chemical peel and dermabrasion procedures and the aesthetic results they help achieve.

Dermabrasion and Chemical Peels: Are They for Me?

Dermabrasion: A cosmetic medical procedure in which the surface of the epidermis of the skin is removed by abrasion (sanding). It is used to remove sun-damaged skin, reduce wrinkles and acne scarring, remove or lessen scars and dark spots on the skin.

Deep Chemical Peels: A medical procedure used to achieve deep exfoliation. This procedure is fitting for patients with deep wrinkles around the lips and chin area, as well as for sun damaged or pigmented facial areas. Results will not disappoint you.

Both procedures can create a much smoother skin appearance and corrected a number of facial aesthetic problems.

How long will the results last? Results are permanent although aging still occurs.

How much time off will I need after my surgery? 2 weeks for Deep Chemical Peels and 4 weeks minimum for dermabrasion (6–8 weeks before attending special events). Discolouration can require cover-up makeup and can last 3–6 months.

Do I need to stay overnight? No, however, follow-up visits to the clinic will be required so Dr. Sliwin can monitor recovery.
