Breast Lift: Is It For Me?
Breast lift, also known as mastopexy, enhances the size and shape of breasts by tightening and lifting, and is usually done when the breasts have become saggy due to weight gain or loss or
breastfeeding. There are various methods of breast lift and Dr. Sliwin will work with you to determine the best procedure. When having a breast lift, the size of the areola can also be reduced if necessary. Often breast lift Toronto patients will consider having implants placed at the same time as having a lift if they are not happy with their original breast size.
Will this surgery leave a scar and how can the healing be accelerated? There are variations to the incisions used for breast lifting. The traditional method of lifting the breast uses 3 incisions: one around the areola, the second vertically from the bottom edge of the areola to the crease under the breast and the third along the natural curve of the breast crease. Dr Sliwin will advise you on which incisions are most appropriate for you. Following surgery, he will inform you of the scar management treatments. Fortunately, most scars do fade with time.
How will pregnancy affect the results of breast lift surgery? Pregnancy can cause sagging.
How much time off will I need after my surgery? 1–2 weeks.
Are the results permanent? Over time, your breasts do continue to change due to aging and gravity. However, you will be able to retain your new look longer if you maintain your weight and keep a healthy lifestyle.
Do I need to stay overnight? No, however, follow-up visits to the clinic will be required so Dr. Sliwin can monitor recovery.
When can I return to doing exercise? 2 weeks light exercise and 6 weeks for full weights and aerobics.
Do I need to wear a special garment?A sports bra is necessary to limit movement and keep the breasts lifted.
